Slow, creeping, sinister, weird. Almost grooving, and almost tripping over its own feet. Chilled out and nasty. negligiblism is rooted in longstanding collaboration. Heule, Bruckmann, and Nishi-Smith have played together starting with the quartet Addleds since 2010, and continuing with numerous variations, including the the quartet with Tom Djll that released brittle feebling in 2020. Heule and Rivero have played together as Voicehandler since 2011, with numerous other personnel crossovers since then. This quartet takes advantage of the hard-built trust in each other by pushing themselves and their music into unusual exploratory places. Kyle leans heavily into his electronics and rarely reaches for his English horn. The oboe never even came out of the case. Jacob, believe it or not, almost grooves on the opening track, in a tripped out negliblist kind of way.
